Valentines Day nail art
Valentines Day nail art using a negative space technique.

I had the most difficult time getting this Valentines nail art off the ground. Unfortunately, I live in an environment where my time isn’t respected, so accomplishing my goals is a battle, and the solution is not pretty. Can you tell I am less than happy? No, I did not have a happy V-Day.

First of all, the many brilliant ideas I had for my Valentines nail art failed during the testing phase. The first idea was to capitalize on the 50 Shades of Grey hysteria, (which I think is absolutely ridiculous) and literally come up with as many shades of grey as possible. I wanted to create a ombre effect then put some random metallic hearts on the nails. The problem? Most of my greys are dark making an ombre effect difficult  because I have no lighter shades. I would have had to make shades in varying degrees of grey and time was of the essence. The second was lots of ties, which didn’t translate well enough for me.

At 1 a.m., Valentines Day, I finally got my inspiration based on nail art I found on Pinterest by Happily Ever Rose. Seriously, check out her Instagram page. I decided to do my Valentines nail art based on L’Oreal’s Dark Shades of Grey collection using Miss Grey.

My nail art inspiration. Gorgeous negative space nail art with gold embellishments.

My picture-taking leaves much to be desired, but I am working on it. Hopefully, you enjoyed my very late, and very first nail art post. Happy belated Valentines Day!
